New to research in palliative care? Join us at the EAPC Research Network Junior Forum session at #EAPC2021

Ahead of the congress, we’re delighted to give a glimpse of what’s in store at #EAPC2021. Today, Augusto Caraceni (Chair), Geana Paula Kurita and Luc Deliens (Vice-chairs) of the European Association for Palliative Care Research Network (EAPC RN), invite you to join them and other internationally renowned researchers in a live Junior Forum session on 8 October 2021 at 3pm CET

Prof Augusto Caraceni, Dr Geana Paula Kurita and Prof Luc Deliens

A key role of the EAPC Research Network Junior Forum (JF) is to keep young researchers, and those relatively new to research in palliative care, connected to all that’s new on the international palliative research scene – and that includes connecting them with colleagues worldwide.

So, with the volunteer help of JF fellow Morena Shkodra, we’ve arranged a special Junior Forum session at the EAPC 17th World Congress Online, which will be held on Friday, 8 October 2021, 3.00pm to 3.50pm (CET). Invited speakers are Professor Irene Higginson (King’s College London, Cicely Saunders Institute, UK), who will discuss Challenges and opportunities in palliative care research, and Dr Bárbara Antunes (University of Cambridge, UK), winner of the EAPC Early Researcher Award 2021 who will tell us about her Journey as a young researcher.

How to participate in the Junior Forum live session

To join this event, you just need to be registered for the main congress and no additional registration is necessary. If you haven’t yet registered for the congress, please register here.

And while you’re here… have you thought about sharing your research in the Science Slam that’s also happening at the congress? This is a great place in which to present the core message of your research in an entertaining way. You can find out more here. Or visit the Science Slam webpage  (If you are already registered for the congress and looking for inspiration, view some of the entries already on the congress platform. Who can join the Junior Forum – and what do you get from it?

Researchers and/or clinicians interested in expanding their network and improving their research career in palliative and end-of-life care are welcome to join the Junior Forum. We want to help junior researchers to become an integral part of the international research scene in palliative care, and to help you build up your connections and contacts.

To join the Junior Forum, please email the Research Network Secretary, Alice Gallivanone.

Look out for future activities

The EAPC Research Network has been working with the EAPC Board to develop more JF educational activities and we’ll be announcing more news about this soon. Look out for announcements on our webpage, the Junior Forum Facebook page and on EAPC social media @EAPCvzw

We are looking forward to meeting you all at the online Junior Forum session on Friday, 8 October at 3pm CET, which Geana and Morena will be chairing. (If you are already registered for the congress, log in to the congress platform where you will find the latest version of the scientific programme.
