LAUNCH OF NEW SERIES: EXPLORING NEW DIMENSIONS AT #EAPC2021 …
Today, Professor Fliss Murtagh, Chair of the Scientific Committee, of the 17th World Congress Online of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), invites you to discover the innovation and inspiration available to you at the Congress.
Dear friends and colleagues,
I am delighted to say there are only 132 days to the EAPC 17th World Congress Online. I send a wholehearted ‘thank you’ to all who have accepted invitations to speak, provided session proposals, submitted abstracts, applied for Researcher Awards, and contributed their enthusiasm, ideas, abstract marks, and sheer hard work, to build what will be a very exciting and thought-provoking programme. We really will be ‘exploring new dimensions’ together!
How much has changed …
Last year was challenging for us all, and this year still holds much uncertainty. We are all becoming used to different ways of working and connecting, and to living with uncertainty about when we can travel, work together, and meet face to face. It is hard to know what will return as before, and what will be changed forever.
In this changed world, we are all of us experiencing growing demand for palliative care, major changes in palliative care practice, and increasing challenges to the delivery of palliative care services. The EAPC 17th World Congress “Exploring New Dimensions” will give you the opportunity to hear about exciting innovations and progress from within our palliative care community, as well as valuable contributions from the wider services and communities with whom we work. There is real innovation and inspiration throughout the programme.
What to look out for
The EAPC Congress provides an excellent time and place to step back and reflect on progress, and to consider the best ways forward. This is your chance to hear from colleagues, and to be inspired and re-energised; so, don’t miss out! You can register here – and if you’re an individual or associate EAPC member you’ll get a special discount on registration fees. We had some very high-quality abstracts submitted and we have several wonderful plenary speakers (read the details here).
Online but more opportunities to connect …
Our EAPC 17th World Congress will be online, as for our 2020 World Research Congress last year. Since then, we have learnt a great deal more about what does and what does not work in the virtual online world. Drawing on this new knowledge, we have put together an online conference which is more engaging, easier to access, and with greater opportunities to learn, meet, and network.
I am very much looking forward to welcoming you to the Congress in October. There will be new people to meet, and old friends and colleagues to catch up with. As I write, the season of spring is at last arriving properly in the UK – I share a cheerful picture of this with you and hope to welcome you to the Congress when the seasons turn again – on October 6th.
