Seminar on cancer pain, cachexia, and dyspnea – 4-5 June 2012

Submit your proposal for a presentation by 20 April
Clinically important aspects of cancer-related pain, cachexia, and dyspnea will be presented and discussed at the pre-congress seminar of the European Palliative Care Research Centre (PRC) and the EAPC Research Network (EAPC RN) which takes place in Trondheim, Norway, in June. All registered participants are invited to present recent results and ongoing research regarding these symptoms. The deadline for submitting a proposal for presentation has been postponed to 20 April.

Travel grants available
The EAPC is pleased to announce that the Foundation Open Society Institute has granted funds to provide travel grants for the 7th World Research Congress. Travel grants will only be offered to applicants who have an abstract accepted for oral or poster presentation, and who represent the priority countries of the International Palliative Care Initiative of the Open Society Foundation (Albania, Armenia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Romania, South Africa, Tajikistan, Uganda, and Ukraine). More information is available at the congress website  (under the ‘Practical/Travel grants’ tab). The application deadline is 25 April.

The scientific programme
The scientific programme of the congress covers a wide range of clinically important topics regarding palliative care such as end of life care, pain, involuntary weight loss, dyspnea, cognitive failure and depression as well as diagnostic tools, basic mechanisms and methodology. Cutting edge knowledge will be presented by invited leading international clinicians and researchers and by a large number of abstract submitters.
